Forever Doom is a project I first conceived back in high school. Only it wasn't called Forever Doom back then. In grade 12, I wrote a very dark, brutal, and sexual short story called Night of the Beast. Surprisingly, my teacher loved it. Either that, or she was too afraid to say anything negative about it. I followed up that story with two or three sequels. Those were not school projects, however.
About three to four years ago, I began to wonder if I still had copies of those stories. I frantically search through old boxes in my basement. I found one or two handwritten copies. Sadly, it was not all of them. It then dawned on me that they may be on a disk for the Amiga. So I fired up that old piece of crap and recovered the rest. I thought I had written four stories, but I could only find three. Either I am remembering plans for the fourth tale, or the fourth tale is forever lost. No matter, I had what I was looking for.
Over the next month or so, I developed a plan to expand on those original stories. I decided that I was destined to write an epic tale that would span 6-7 novels. The first novel would include rewritten chapters based on those original tales. Surely enough, a rewrite was necessary. After rereading what I wrote back then, I easily determined that it was very juvenile. I'm not going to pretend that I am the most technically sound writer now, but I have certainly come a long way since then.
I started work on a timeline for the series - just enough to give me direction in the future. It was then time to focus on the first novel. While Forever Doom ultimately spans the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, the first novel primarily centers around horror. Fantasy will work its way in as well, but horror is the focal point. Science fiction will rear its head in a future novel. The title for the first novel is simply The Beast.
The Beast is setup with a lot of jumping between the present and past events. I decided to do it this way to slowly expose the reader to what has come before. It may be a little confusing at first, but it should make sense in the end. I am also using this method of storytelling in my more recent projects. The book will ultimately consist of four to five parts. So far, I have written the prologue, several chapters of part one, and several chapters of part three. Part three is where the rewrites to the original stories come in. Thus, I was able to work out of order. If the prologue seems a bit brutal, it pales in comparison to part three. We go from Romper Room in the prologue to Saw or Hostel by part three.
I have decided to share some early work from the first novel as well. I would just like to remind everyone that this is a work in progress (even if I haven't worked on it much in the past 3 years). No major editing has been done. I have not obtained the permission to use the real places mentioned in the tale - although they are all used fictionally, so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to handle that. I have been more concerned with my stories themselves to this point. At this point, I am only providing a pdf copy. If there are enough requests for an html version, I will include that as well. I have also taken the liberty to slightly censor some of the text. I normally wouldn't do so, but I am trying to keep this site somewhat "clean". Regardless, this story is meant for mature audiences only. You have been warned.
