No Presents for Christmas began as a
NaNoWriMo project. Check out their site for more details about that contest. I had completed roughly 30 thousand words by the end of the competition. It is the most I have written for any novel thus far. So, while it did not meet the contest's goal of 50 thousand words, it did push me in the right direction. I have since added a bit more to the story, but it hasn't been worked on since early this year.
So what exactly is No Presents for Christmas? Well, it is a tale about an evil man who hates everything about the holiday. He commits a brutal crime and is locked away in a secret prison for many years. During that time, he makes a deal with entities that provide him with immense powers - including the ability to be reborn into the world. The tale does not center around him, however. The tale is about a little girl who has a connection to this evil menace. Only the connection goes further than any could suspect. What lies in her path is gruesome terror brought forth by the supernatural.
No Presents for Christmas was ultimately inspired by two classic pieces of work. Ok, maybe only one is widely considered classic. I am speaking of The Grinch. While the main character, Jacob Goldstein, is based upon someone I once knew in real life, he is also very much inspired by the Grinch himself. Only instead of stealing presents and causing sadness, he slices off heads and creates mass grief. The other piece of work that inspired this story was a song by King Diamond. It is also called No Presents for Christmas. Between Diamond's and Seuss' warped minds and my own, No Presents for Christmas has been crafted for those with a love for twisted tales of evil and destruction, and topped off with some sexual flare.
As with my other works, I am providing a sample. Again, it is not a finished product. The final version will likely differ. It has also been edited for the web. For mature audiences only.
